Wedding Colour Trends for 2016

The gurus of colour over at Pantone have released their Pantone 2016 Colour Report and we're loving the colours that can be used for weddings in the coming season !  This year’s colors range from vibrant to calming, and are non-gender specific.  So without further ado, take a look at the the Top 10 Colour Trends for Spring 2016 !

Rose Quartz

Pink is a classic colour used in wedding decorations and the first trending wedding colour in 2016 is Rose Quartz, which is a shade of pink. Here’s what Pantone had to say: The soothing, calming nature of colors in the Spring collections are led by PANTONE 13-1520 Rose Quartz, a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure

Peach Echo

As a shade of orange, Peach Echo is another trending wedding colour in the year 2016, which depicts friendlier qualities, evoking warmth and accessibility. It is an all-encompassing, tempered companion in the playful orange family.  Match it with pink and gold to successfully add a touch of romance to it.

Serenity

This shade of light blue is almost sky-like and evokes a calming effect.  Perfect for a beach or rustic wedding.

Snorkel Blue

A maritime-inspired blue, Snorkel Blue plays in the navy family, but with a happier, more energetic context” say the folks at Pantone. Throw in some chocolate brown or other neutral colours if you’re planning a chic rustic wedding theme or a touch of sparkly gold for a more royal wedding.

Buttercup

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Colour Institute says, “While the majority of the Spring/Summer palette trends toward calmness, a few diversions from the theme emerge that offer a contrast.  With Buttercup, designers reveal a shining beacon transporting it's wearer to a happier, sunnier place"

We at AKA think Buttercup & Rose Quartz or a blush tone would make a perfect match. Alternatively for a more rustic or earthy feel - we would add a chocolate tone to complement it.

Limpet Shell

As a shade of aqua, this Limpet Shell can tell us what’s it like in spring.  "Suggestive of clarity and freshness, its crisp and modern influences evoke a deliberate, mindful tranquility” says Eiseman.

Lilac Grey

Ok so the folks at Pantone say 'Gray' whilst we at AKA say 'grey'.  We're huge fans of the colour grey and we're seeing this colour in Shades of Grey and Pink it Up ! The Pantone Lilac Grey has a subtle lilac undertone that gives a distinctive edge to this versatile colour.

Fiesta

A strong and fiery, yellow-based red, the vivid Fiesta provides a stark contrast to the calming, softer nature of this season’s palette.  We think this would look great paired with a Snorkel Blue or a darker hue of Purple; and of course throw in some sparkly gold for the ooh-la-la effect !

Iced Coffee

The neutral colour scheme for the year 2016 is trending and Iced Coffee can work well with almost every colour. Combine this colour with shades of green to make it oh-so-natural and earthy or throw in some blush or Rose Quartz and you're on to a winner !

Green Flash

We absolutely love this pop of almost neon green ! This Green Flash hue is not used much as a main wedding colour but it looks really brilliant with hot pink - especially for a Mehendi / Sangeet function.

There you have it brides and grooms - the Top 10 Wedding Colour Trends for 2016 ! Which one of these is your favourite ? This is just a guide for you to start when it comes to thinking about the colour scheme for your wedding.  Just be sure to consider what best represents YOU as a couple; think about the time of the year you're getting married and most importantly - have FUN choosing the colour scheme for your wedding !
