Destination weddings around India have become quite popular over the last few years. It makes sense when you think about it. Anyone living in bustling cities like Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, and Bangalore has already attended more than a dozen events (corporate and weddings) at 5* hotels and open event spaces. Wouldn't you want your wedding to take place in setting that is closer to your 'dream' wedding ?
As wedding planners, we are often asked by newly engaged couples about the best destinations to get married within India. So we've put together a list of our favourite cities so that you can get a snapshot of each destination.
1. Goa
If you’re looking for a resort style beach wedding then AKA recommends heading to South Goa away from all the hustle & bustle of the tourists. There are some beautiful resorts that are ideal for weddings ranging for 100 to 500 guests. The AKA personal favourites include Alila Diwa, Park Hyatt and Radisson Blu. We also recommend Zeebop Beach Shack if you're looking for a more beachy vibe.

North Goa is the place to be if you’re looking for something more relaxed, and not-so-formal. Our personal favourites include Taj Aguada & Taj Village at Sinquerim beach along with the Double Tree by Hilton by Apora beach. We also really like The Fareinheit Hotel Beach Lounge for cocktail parties and Marbella Beach Resort for beach weddings and receptions.
Why Pick Goa ? For the bride that wants to feel the sand under her toes; and for the groom that can rock a linen suit.
2. Jaipur
Also known as the Pink City - there's something quite charming about tying the knot in Jaipur. The city is adorned with exquisite architecture in the form of ornate palaces, forts, heritage hotels and formidable mansions.
The Taj Rambagh Palace is absolutely exquisite and based in the city center. The newly opened Fairmont is a stunning property and will take your breath away. If you're looking for a romantic palatial wedding slightly away from the city center, then the heritage venue of Samode Bagh Palace and Samode Bagh built into the Aravali mountain ranges are the venues for you !
Why Pick Jaipur ? For the bride that wants to be swept away by her prince charming; and for the groom that wants to show off his princess.
3. Udaipur
Udaipur is known as the city of lakes and palaces ! There are numerous stunning palaces and havelis for you to choose from for all your wedding functions. For a regal palatial affair nothing beats a wedding at the City Palace (Zenana Mahal, Manek Chowk) and Jag Mandir Island. If you’re looking for something magical, fairy tale-like surrounded by Lake Pichola and yet oh-so-intimate, then look no further than the Taj Lake Palace.
For weddings where the group size is under 150 guests, then we recommend checking out The Leela Palace. If you’re looking at a wedding size of 250+ guests then we urge you to book at The Sheraton Palace or Oberoi Udaivilas. For the those that want to escape into a bit of Bollywood romance surrounded by the Aravalli mountains - then Devi Garh Palace on the outskirts of the city is the perfect venue.

4. Kerala
For those that are looking for a picturesque and tropical setting - then Kerala is the place for you. There's a perfect combination of tropical, beach, hill station, nature reserves and city weddings depending on your preference. If you've dreamed of getting married along the banks of a lake or riding off into the emerald green backwaters in a traditional houseboat - this is where you can do it !
The Zuri Kumarakom near Allepy is one of the most popular venues for weddings; and if you want a beach wedding then The Leela or the Varkala are absolutely stunning. For nature lovers, we would recommend the beautiful hill-station of Munnar, apt for smaller intimate weddings.
Why Pick Kerala ? For the bride and groom that prefer to be surrounded by nature and leave the hustle of the city behind them.
